JAGDA
INTERNATIONAL STUDENT POSTER AWARD 2020
The Japan Graphic Designers Association, Student Poster Award for 2020 called for entries of posters that responded to the theme “Money”.
My response to the theme stemmed from the difficulties that were met within 2020 due to Covid-19 as well as the significant BLM movement. The phrase “Put your money where your mouth is” signifies the act of doing as opposed to just saying. Social media especially can become an echo chamber of people sharing and re-posting information yet not acting on what they post.
I used the effect of distorting coins and a mouth with a scanner to reflect the distortion of societies relationship to money especially in such a difficult year.
My poster was selected by the JAGDA jury and displayed at the The National Art Center in Tokyo Japan from November to December of 2020.
