SYMBOLIC AWARENESS
FLAG DESIGN
Studio Symbolic Awareness explored how iconography and semiotics can simplify complex social issues through visual language. For the major project, I developed a flag design addressing identity as a biracial person, informed by personal experience and shared feelings of not fully belonging.
The design uses vibrant green to represent growth, three brown forms for connected yet distinct cultures, and a sheer black veil reflecting external perceptions and misunderstandings. Its abstract composition mirrors the complexity of identity, encouraging reflection and interpretation.
